Mr C came to us as he was looking to remove his Solar PV whilst he had extensive building works carried out at his home.
His roof was to be removed, and new trusses installed for a loft conversion.
The existing 185W panels were removed from his roof, and put into storage.
We also removed the existing rails and roof hooks.
After examination, due to corrosion caused by the proximity to the coast, it was decided the existing rail and fixings could not be reused.
This was also due to the panels now forming a new layout on the roof.
A new layout was decided on and the new mounting components ordered, ready to be installed.
We removed the existing loft mounted inverter, which was also put into storage with the panels.
Whilst the Solar PV modules were off the roof, and we had a conversation about maximising the output off the panels, reducing the impact of shading, increasing the monitoring capabilities of the Solar PV installation, and adding a smart hot water controller to the install to make the most of any excess generation.
We decided that SolarEdge was the way forward.
A new 3kW HD Wave inverter was installed, P300 optimisers for each panel, a Mod Bus meter to monitor the import/export and generation of the Solar PV system, and a SolarEdge Smart Hot Water controller.
This smart device, constantly monitors the generation and consumption, and if there is an excess of generation due to go out to the grid, it energises the immersion element in the hot water cylinder.
This allows for free hot water from otherwise lost energy!
The SolarEdge monitoring platform completes the install, with Mr C being able to see his generation, import and export, as well as module level data on each panels production at all times.
Truly a smart Solar PV upgrade!
