Tesla Powerwall, SolarEdge & MyEnergi Installation – Hayle, Cornwall

For this large domestic project in Cannonstown, Hayle, Cornwall, CS Electrical designed and installed a complete solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, and smart energy management system to meet the client’s energy demands and provide full home backup during grid outages.

Project Overview

We delivered a fully integrated renewable energy solution comprising:

• 2 × Tesla Powerwall 2 (13.5kWh each) with Backup Gateway

• 9.84kWp SolarEdge optimised solar PV array

• 8kW SolarEdge inverter

• MyEnergi Zappi EV charger (tethered)

• MyEnergi Eddi hot water diverter

This system intelligently distributes energy:

Home → Batteries → EV → Hot Water

The priority order can be customised to suit the homeowner’s needs.

Solar PV System – Maximum Output on a Flat Roof

Thanks to the client’s large flat roof, we installed:

• 24 × 410W Canadian Solar PV modules

• SolarEdge optimisers for panel-level performance

• K2 S-Dome mounting system

• Nicholson IFP300 structural fixings

• GRP sealing by professional roofing contractors

Why This Mounting Method?

Direct fixing avoids excessive ballast, which:

• Reduces structural load on the roof

• Prevents array movement in exposed coastal conditions

• Ensures long-term system stability

This approach is ideal for wind-exposed Cornish locations.

Tesla Powerwall – Whole Home Backup & Energy Independence

At the core of the installation are two Tesla Powerwall batteries, delivering:

• 27kWh total storage capacity

• 10kW combined charge/discharge capability

• Solar and off-peak grid charging

• Seamless backup during power outages

MyEnergi Integration – Smarter Energy Use

The MyEnergi ecosystem enhances energy efficiency:

• Zappi EV charger uses surplus solar for EV charging

• Eddi diverts excess energy to heat water

• Fully integrated monitoring via MyEnergi app

This ensures no solar energy goes to waste.
